Learn Portuguese from native speakers
At Regina Coeli, you learn from native speakers from Portugal and Brazil. You hear the natural sound and intonation of Portuguese, practise typical conversation situations and discover what cultural nuances determine how your message comes across.
The lessons are fully tailored to your needs. For example, conversations, writing emails or meetings in Portuguese. Whatever you need!
Because language and culture always go hand in hand, you will also discover the customs, manners and style that suit your situation.

Make your course fit your schedule. Our Client Services team is happy to help you schedule your course when suits you best.
To get into a flow, plan your lesson days in quick succession. If you would like more time, you can also spread the course over several weeks.
Set your personal goals during the intake
Before your course, you will have an intake with a Portuguese language trainer. We usually do this via Microsoft Teams, but you can also come to our institute in Vught.
During the intake, you will set your learning goals with the language trainer. If you speak some of the language, part of the intake will be in Portuguese. This will allow the language trainer to assess your current level. You can also ask any questions you may have.
Staying overnight at Regina Coeli or a nearby hotel
Because the training days at Regina Coeli are long, you can stay overnight. If our guest accommodation is fully booked, we will arrange alternative accommodation and provide a convenient taxi service between the hotel and Regina Coeli.
All-inclusive
Everything about your stay at Regina Coeli is included in the price. This means lunch, dinner, coffee, tea and snacks, and use of all our facilities. Just let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
What does a lesson day at Regina Coeli look like?
You will be completely focused on learning Portuguese. You receive a lesson schedule, hear a bell indicating the start of the day, and everyone around you will be busy learning a language.
- If you stay at Regina Coeli, you start your day with breakfast. Before your first Portuguese lesson, you can go outside or work out in our gym.
- In the morning, you will have two lesson blocks, each consisting of a private lesson followed by self-study. There is a break between the lesson blocks.
- You will have lunch in the restaurant with other students. An extensive lunch buffet will be waiting for you in the restaurant.
- In the afternoon, you will have two more lesson blocks, this time with a different language trainer.
- The last lesson ends around 5:30 p.m. On some evenings, there is an additional programme. Other evenings are free for self-study, relaxation and, of course, dinner in the restaurant.
- Your language trainers will add some group activities and language tables to your programme.

Language Institute Regina Coeli was originally conceived of by an international order of nuns who gave language lessons to clergy and business people. Nowadays, our Portuguese lessons are taught by native speakers.
What has remained a constant over all these years is our commitment to teaching people foreign languages. We believe that people understand and appreciate one another more when they speak the same language. Personal and organisational effectiveness greatly improve when language learning is invested in.

What is the difference between European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese?
The basis of the language is the same, but there are differences in pronunciation, word use and manners. Compare it to British and American English. During your intake, we will discuss which variant is most relevant for you. You can choose European Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese or a combination, depending on your practical needs.
What do course days in Vught look like?
The days are broken up into lesson blocks with personal lessons and guided self-study. There are also joint activities, such as language tables and group dinners. Everything is geared towards learning in a peaceful and inspiring environment.
Can I learn Portuguese online?
Yes. Many students opt for a combination of intensive course days in Vught and online sessions. This allows you to fit your training into your schedule while still experiencing the intensity and personal attention Regina Coeli is known for.
How long will it take before I can speak Portuguese?
It depends on your starting level and your goals. Many beginners can have simple conversations after six days of lessons. Advanced learners often find that they become more fluent and confident in a short period of time.
