What does an Italian course at Regina Coeli involve?
At Regina Coeli, there is no such thing as a standard Italian course. Your course organically emerges in the one-to-one lessons with your trainers. Perhaps you want to spend a bit longer on a particular subject, or the trainer thinks it would be beneficial to spend a bit more time on an Italian grammar rule. Of course, your programme has a framework based on your goals, wishes and skills, but the details of the lessons are based on what is needed at that moment. That is the distinct advantage of an individual Italian course.

Why Regina Coeli
- Speak Italian in no time!
- Learn the language while getting to know the culture
- Extensive experience in Italian for business purposes
- All your trainers are from Italy
- Highly flexible
No single student has the exact same training programme when they come for an Italian course. Someone who is relocating to Italy has different needs to someone who does business with Italian suppliers or needs to have sales talks there. At your personal intake appointment, we look at what you would like to be able to do and your current skills, and then design an Italian course around this information.
If you need Italian for professional reasons, we discuss the situations you (are going to) use the language for and what exactly you need to learn in order to be effective. With us, lawyers learn different vocabulary and skills than sales managers, for example. Based on the information gleaned from your intake appointment, we can also do role plays to get you practising the things you have learnt.
Even when you come to Regina Coeli for business purposes, socialising in Italian comes with the territory. Your lessons are always and exclusively with native speakers who teach you how to communicate in a style that works with Italians.
During your Italian course at Language Institute Regina Coeli, you have lessons with multiple trainers who guide you in the process of learning Italian. One trainer might explain grammar in the morning, and you might practise the grammar in a conversation lesson with another trainer in the afternoon. Because you spend so much time with your trainers, you get to know the nature and culture of Italians better.
At Language Institute Regina Coeli, everything revolves round your goals and your starting point is your own current skill set. Your personal programme is designed based on your in-depth intake conversation with an Italian trainer.
The programme mainly consists of private lessons, multimedia exercises and practical assignments.
Private lessons from native speakers
At Regina Coeli, you learn Italian in private lessons given by well-educated native speakers. With them, you practise real-life conversations and role plays. Grammar and vocabulary expansion are a natural part of this.
Sophisticated multimedia programme
You can work independently after each lesson by, for example, using our multimedia programme. Your trainers select exercises which dovetail with your training programme. You might practise grammar, pronunciation and intonation by recording yourself and comparing it to a native speaker. Do you notice a difference? Or you might practise the verb tenses again and again, so that using the right tense at the right time becomes an automatic process.
During your course, work on one of your own presentations, sales pitches or documents that you (can) use in real life. Work independently in your study hours and practise speaking in your private lessons. A course can be especially beneficial if you want to prepare for a specific event.
Your personal goals
You always work towards your own goals during the course. They are as specific as possible and geared towards practical situations such as ‘making my point clearly during the weekly teleconference with my international team’. We strive to help you reach your goals by the end of the course and use what you have learnt straight away in real life.
Score based on the CEF
At the end of the course, your team of trainers assesses your skills based on the CEF. This is the European norm for assessing skill levels in foreign languages. You receive a score for each specific applicable skill, such as speaking and writing.
An unforgettable experience
A course at Regina Coeli is an experience that stays with you long after you walk out our doors. You have the luxury of withdrawing from the commotion of everyday life and fully concentrating on learning a language. You are completely cared for while your team of trainers give you their time and undivided attention. Besides improving your self-confidence in a foreign language, your network grows when you get to talking to all the other people on their courses here.
Language Institute Regina Coeli is renowned for its intensive individual language courses—the ‘week with the Nuns’, but did you know that so much more is possible? Below you can learn more about our most popular types of courses.
Intensive individual courses
Your skills improve by leaps and bounds in a five-day course because you can fully concentrate on learning the language. You can take this training form from Monday through Friday, or spread it out over multiple weeks. You can also add a day or take a shorter course.
As preparation for your intensive course at our institute, you can spend a half a day with us to get a head start, brush up on your knowledge or simply to get acquainted with the language.
You can also take a short course targeted to what you do in business or daily life. Work on sharpening up your presentation for two half-days, or noticeably improve your writing skills over the course of multiple days.
We also deliver in-company courses. A trainer comes to your chosen location to train one or more employees. If you want your employees to have an intensive group programme, we can design a programme for them that takes place at our institute in Vught.
Introduction programme: learn Italian language for beginners
Regina Coeli offers you the opportunity to follow a preparation programme prior to the intensive personal Italian courses. In this, you will become familiar with both the Italian language and the Regina Coeli Method. The programme consists of two hours of private lessons and one hour in the multimedia lab at our institute in Vught.
In the first lesson hour, you will study two important aspects of Italian grammar, namely the conjugation of nouns (called ‘concordanza’) and the use of the verbs ‘essere’ (to be) and ‘avere’ (to have). Experience has taught us that beginners often struggle with mastering these subjects, and that extra time is therefore necessary to fully grasp them.
The Regina Coeli Method is very pragmatic and teaches you to immediately apply the language you are learning. Based on the theme ‘fare conoscenza’ (to get acquainted with), in the second lesson hour you will put to use what you have learnt in the first hour’s grammar lesson. You will write a text with your trainer in which you use terms that are often part of your passive knowledge, but which as a beginner you do not yet know how to use actively.
In the third and final hour, the trainer will bring you to the multimedia lab, so you can get used to working with Language Institute Regina Coeli’s multimedia programme. You will independently do a series of exercises related to the lesson materials from the first and second private lesson hours. After that and with assistance from My Regina Coeli – your personal web page – , you can do listening and speaking exercises to prepare for your upcoming intensive training programme.
The basic knowledge gleaned in the introduction programme prepares you for acquiring the many structures of the Italian language more easily during your intensive language course.
Every language course at Regina Coeli is tailor-made for you. Following your personal intake interview, you will receive a detailed, non-binding proposal for the most effective language programme for you.
You can of course consult the list with our fees.
A student about his Italian course
‘The personal attention is one of Language Institute Regina Coeli’s strengths. The trainers start the lesson from zero and allow it to take form based on what I need.'
