Luisa comes from Lisbon in Portugal. She studied biology at the University of Lisbon. Worked as a researcher on the Dutch island of Texel, as well as for the Universities of Coimbra and Groningen. Has a PhD in bird migration and avian diseases.
‘I want my students to know that they can have fun reaching their goals. Learning a language is a process. It takes some time before you’re completely familiar with it, so you should make the journey as interesting as possible. Because Portuguese pronunciation is so different to, for example, Spanish, that gets a lot of attention in the first few days. That means we talk a lot in the lessons.’
