Business Portuguese course

The right Portuguese for your business needs

Do you work with clients, colleagues or business partners in Portugal, Brazil or Portuguese-speaking African countries? Then the type of Portuguese you speak matters. European and Brazilian Portuguese differ in pronunciation, vocabulary and communication styles.

At Regina Coeli, you can learn European or Brazilian Portuguese with experienced native-speaking language trainers. In individual lessons, you focus on the language skills and cultural knowledge you need for your work.

Business Portuguese for your professional role

Take your Portuguese to the next level with a business Portuguese course designed around your work. You develop the skills to take an active part in business conversations, professional discussions and informal exchanges with colleagues and clients.

From the start, we focus on the type of Portuguese you need: European Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese or Portuguese for a specific business context in Africa.

Learn Portuguese through real business situations

Your own work is the starting point for your training. We use conversations, topics and situations from your professional life. Instead of learning general Portuguese, you focus on the language you need to contribute to discussions, influence decisions and get things done.

What makes Regina Coeli different?

  • Noticeable progress in a short time
  • Training tailored to your role, industry and learning goals
  • Individual lessons with experienced native-speaking trainers
  • Language and business culture combined in one programme

Find the right tone in Portugal, Africa and Brazil

Portuguese is not spoken in the same way everywhere. Pronunciation, vocabulary and forms of address differ between Portugal and Brazil. Countries such as Angola and Mozambique also have their own language habits and business customs.

These differences go beyond the language itself. Expectations around formality, professional relationships and direct communication can vary depending on where you do business.

Understanding these differences helps you communicate more naturally and build stronger professional relationships.

Develop your personal communication style

Your language trainers help you understand which language and cultural differences matter for your work. You learn to adapt your communication style to different people and business situations, while staying true to yourself.

For example, you practise using appropriate forms of address, choosing the right level of formality and expressing yourself professionally. You also learn why an expression that sounds natural in one country may come across differently in another.

Your business Portuguese course starts with you

Every business Portuguese course at Regina Coeli is designed around your work, current level, learning goals and the regions where you do business.

During your initial consultation with a language trainer, you discuss:

  • Where you use Portuguese, for example in Portugal, Brazil, Angola or Mozambique
  • Who you communicate with in Portuguese
  • Which type of Portuguese is most relevant to your work
  • Which conversations and business situations matter most
  • Where you currently struggle to find the right words
  • What you want to do better after your training

You can also share presentations, emails, proposals or other work documents before your course begins. Your trainers use these materials to create exercises that reflect your everyday professional situations.

Language trainers for European and Brazilian Portuguese

European and Brazilian Portuguese differ in several important ways. In business communication, these differences deserve special attention. That is why we carefully select the language trainers who best match your goals.

If you need European Portuguese, you work with native speakers who help you become familiar with the pronunciation, vocabulary and expressions used in Portugal.

If your focus is Brazil, you learn from native speakers of Brazilian Portuguese.

Do you work in a Portuguese-speaking African country? We adapt the vocabulary, exercises and cultural content as closely as possible to the country and professional situations relevant to you.

All your trainers work towards the same personal learning goals. This makes your training varied, focused and consistent.

What does a course at Regina Coeli look like?

During an intensive language course, you stay at Regina Coeli's language institute in Vught, the Netherlands. You receive individual lessons from a team of language trainers who work together on your personal learning programme. They coordinate their lessons and feedback, so each session builds on what you have already learned and what you need next.

Personal assignments
After each lesson, your trainer gives you an assignment based on your level and learning goals. You might practise grammar and vocabulary, prepare for a role-play or work on your pronunciation.

Pronunciation can be especially important when learning Portuguese. European and Brazilian Portuguese sound quite different, and each has its own challenges for listening and speaking.

Combine your course with online lessons
Many participants combine intensive training days with individual online lessons. Online follow-up sessions allow you to discuss new situations from work, continue using what you have learned and prevent old language habits from returning.

“I feel well prepared for my work in Brazil”

Martine was preparing to move to Brazil for work. She had previously used Portuguese in Mozambique, but wanted to refresh her language skills and become more familiar with Brazilian Portuguese before starting her new role.

At Regina Coeli, she worked intensively with language trainers from Brazil. She improved her speaking skills and learned more about the country, its economy and everyday life in São Paulo.
