“You can’t explain it, you have to experience it”
As an educational and developmental psychologist, Carolina knows how important it is for learning to happen in a safe and trusted environment. After two weeks of intensive one-to-one Italian language training at Regina Coeli, she looks back on her experience with confidence and forward to more.
One-to-one lessons from native speakers
“When I decide to learn something new, I want to do it properly from the start. That’s why I build a strong foundation first. And I do that at Regina Coeli. I’m happy to invest in myself here,” says Carolina. She had taken courses in Italy before, but those now pale in comparison to the personal approach in Vught. “In Italy, you usually practise with fellow students. Here, you get one-to-one lessons from native speakers. Plus, you learn from your own mother tongue. That really makes a difference.”
Carolina works with expat children in The Hague, including many Italian families. “The parents often speak basic English, but when it comes to emotional topics, they feel more comfortable in Italian. If I really want to understand and support them, I need to speak their language.” Her fascination with Italy also plays a role: “I love the people, the warmth, the emotion. It goes deep.”
