What does online English training involve?
At Regina Coeli, you don't learn English from a book or an app, but from people. You take individual lessons from an English language trainer via Teams. Your language trainer will put together a personal programme for you based on your learning goals and context. If it turns out that this needs to be adjusted during the training, that's no problem.
During the English lessons, you will receive explanations and practise situations that you encounter in real life. Think of preparing a presentation or conducting business conversations in English.
Features of an online English course at Regina Coeli
- You will take 8 or 10 online one-to-one English lessons of 45 minutes
- You will receive English lessons via Teams from a Regina Coeli language trainer
- Customised programme based on your goals and context
- Practical assignments and digital learning environment
- Easy to combine with intensive course days in Vught
Self study
At the end of the lesson, you will receive homework. This could include:
- exercises in the online learning environment
- writing a short text
- watching a video
- preparing a presentation.
Make sure you allow enough time for self-study after each lesson. If you don't, part of the lesson will be spent repeating the material. If you want to learn quickly, you will need to invest extra time to really master the material.
How do you start an online English course?
When you register for an online course, the Client Services department will contact you. You will receive a confirmation and a login code for your personal environment. In that environment, you will find a form where you can indicate what you want to achieve with your course. You can also take an online language test. This will give your language trainer important information about your starting level in advance.
Harness the full power of the Nuns of Vught
With online one-to-one English lessons, you can work specifically on your personal goals. The impact is even greater when you combine these lessons with intensive English training at the institute in Vught. Here you will experience the power of immersion in the language and the effect of an environment that is entirely geared towards learning English.
Consider the following combinations, for example:
- You develop basic knowledge online and then immerse yourself completely in the language in Vught by speaking it a lot and practising in all kinds of situations.
- You start with intensive teaching days in Vught to quickly improve your level of English. You then follow one-to-one lessons online with one of your language trainers to maintain and further develop your level. You can ask questions and practise in your daily routine.
- You alternate intensive course days with online lessons. For example, start with two days, follow a number of online lessons and then come back to Vught to take the next big step.
Would you like to get the most out of an English course and does the combination with intensive course days in Vught appeal to you? Then please contact us. We will be happy to advise you on the best structure for your course.
The difference between online lessons and an intensive English course
The online individual lessons are the same as when you take an individual English lesson at our institute. The setting is different, of course. You are at home or at work and not at our institute, where you sit directly at the table with the language trainer.
During an intensive English course, you will start self-study immediately after your lesson. You will have to, because an hour later there will be another lesson on your schedule. If you take an online lesson, you will have to plan your self-study yourself.
With online lessons, you can study as much as you have time for between lessons. Of course, you will only benefit from this if you have the time and discipline to do so.
In general, we say: “if you don't have time, come to Vught.”
Questions and answers about an online English course
How do I start an online training course?
You contact Regina Coeli to discuss your requirements and plan the first lessons. You coordinate your follow-up lessons directly with your language trainer.
Can I specify my own learning objectives?
During the first one-to-one lesson, you will discuss your goals and background with your language trainer. The lessons will be tailored to these, so that you can work on what is relevant to you.
What do I need for online training?
A stable internet connection, a laptop or computer with a camera and microphone, and a quiet place where you can work undisturbed. We will provide the materials you need.
How long does online training take?
That depends on your learning goals and wishes. For example, start with eight or ten online one-to-one lessons. You can always extend this.
Is online training just as effective as training in Vught?
The content and approach are the same. You work one-to-one with a native speaker and follow a lesson programme that has been specially designed for you. The main difference is in the format: online lessons are spread out over time, which allows for repetition and practical application. If you want to see results in the short term, you may be better off taking an intensive course in Vught.
Can I combine online training with lessons in Vught?
You can follow a hybrid language course at Regina Coeli. This involves intensive course days in Vught combined with online one-to-one lessons. However, you can also opt for a course in Vught after a series of online one-to-one lessons.
Can I schedule more than ten online lessons?
We do not recommend this. You can always easily extend your training. This can be done with online lessons, but also with one or more lesson days in Vught. You can discuss with your language trainer how you are enjoying the online lessons and whether it would be useful to continue.
