Learn the Dutch you need for your work
Do you already speak Dutch, but sometimes find it difficult to express yourself as clearly and professionally as you would like at work? You can improve your Dutch by building a stronger grammar foundation, expanding your vocabulary or improving your pronunciation.
During an intensive course at Regina Coeli, you work on your personal learning goals. You receive coaching from experienced language trainers who are all native speakers. You spend a lot of time speaking Dutch, for example through role plays based on situations in which you want to use the language.
By focusing fully on Dutch for several days, you can make noticeable progress in a short time.
Feel like the professional you are when speaking Dutch
At work, you want to sound professional when you speak Dutch. You want to communicate your knowledge and ideas as effectively as you can in your first language. Learning business Dutch is therefore about more than simply reaching a higher language level.
At Regina Coeli, you practise situations that you face in your work. You improve your pronunciation and grammar and expand your vocabulary.
Your course is fully focused on you and your learning goals. Your language trainers monitor your progress carefully. They adapt the lessons to what is going well and what still needs extra attention. Because your lessons are individual, there is plenty of room for this personal approach.
Our goal is to help you make as much progress as possible during your course. Afterwards, you will be able to use Dutch at work with greater confidence and enjoyment.
Communicating in Dutch workplace culture
When you work in the Netherlands, you naturally come into contact with Dutch culture. You probably have Dutch colleagues. You may also work with Dutch customers or suppliers.
Speaking the language is not enough to build strong connections with people. Unwritten rules also influence how your message is received. How direct can you be? When is it acceptable to interrupt someone during a meeting? How can you give criticism without sounding distant or too careful?
Dutch workplace culture is therefore a natural part of your lessons. You can ask your language trainer any questions you have about how things work in the Netherlands.
Is a business Dutch course right for you?
A business Dutch course is suitable for professionals who already know some Dutch and want to use the language more confidently and effectively at work.
From around A2 level, work-related situations can play an increasingly important role in your course. More complex skills, such as presenting a convincing argument, writing reports or managing people, usually require a higher language level.
You can work on skills such as:
- taking part in meetings
- explaining and supporting your point of view
- giving and receiving feedback
- having informal conversations with colleagues
- speaking with customers
- writing emails and reports
- managing people in Dutch
- dealing with resistance or misunderstandings
Is your Dutch not yet at this level, but do you want to learn Dutch for work? Request a consultation so that we can create a learning plan together and help you reach your goals.
What does a course at Regina Coeli involve?
During an intensive course, you stay at the Regina Coeli language institute in Vught. You receive lessons from a team of native Dutch language trainers. Together, you work on a personal learning programme.
The trainers carefully coordinate their lessons and feedback. This means that each lesson builds on what you have already learned and focuses on what you need at that moment.
Personal assignments
After each lesson, your language trainer gives you a personal assignment that matches your level and goals. You may practise grammar, prepare for a role play or work on your pronunciation.
A combination of intensive and online lessons
Many participants combine intensive training days with individual online lessons. Follow-up lessons help you discuss new situations from your work, continue using what you have learned and prevent old language habits from returning.
A personal intake before your course
Before your course, you have an intake interview with a language trainer. During this conversation, we get to know you so that we can carefully adapt the course to your level, learning goals and learning style.
You can expect questions such as:
- What kind of work do you do, and what type of organisation do you work for?
- How much Dutch can you currently speak and understand?
- In which situations do you want to use Dutch?
- Who do you want to communicate with?
- What do you currently find difficult?
- Which conversations, texts or presentations are important in your work?

Frequently asked questions about a Business Dutch course
Why should I choose an intensive course?
During an intensive course, you focus fully on the language for several days. You speak a lot of Dutch, use new knowledge immediately and continue building on what you have just learned. This combination of immersion, personal attention and complete focus helps you make clear progress in a short time.
How is a business Dutch course at Regina Coeli different from other courses?
At Regina Coeli, you do not follow a standard group programme. You work individually with several language trainers on the situations, skills and language that are relevant to your work. The trainers coordinate their lessons and feedback. Because your stay is fully catered, you can give your complete attention to your learning goals.
Do you also focus on Dutch culture?
Yes. For example, you discuss how directly you can communicate, how to take part in meetings and how to give or receive feedback.
You can also discuss situations from your own work with your language trainers. This means you learn not only what to say, but also how your message is likely to be received within Dutch workplace culture.
I understand Dutch, but I am afraid to speak it. Can the course help?
Yes. By practising frequently and receiving direct, personal feedback, you build your confidence. We have already helped many people overcome their fear of speaking Dutch.
