‘The French culture is often described in terms of stereotypes, but in reality there are a lot of differences among the French. I want to teach students to be open to cultural differences and—of equal importance—understand French humour.
I get a kick out of finding out what makes a student tick and then fine-tuning my lessons to that person as much as I possibly can. I particularly enjoy professional conversations. If I don’t yet know much about someone’s field, I read up on it so I can be a good conversation partner for him or her. That means I learn a lot in the lessons as well.’
