Online made-to-measure, face-to-face lessons also score big
In mid-March we hurriedly closed down the institute in connection with the measures taken around COVID-19. That very same week, a group of colleagues put their heads together virtually to come up with a solution for the weeks to come, and within one week we’d switched over completely to online lessons! And that was appreciated.
Regina Coeli is, of course, known for the intensive training courses our institute offers. We also offer online lessons as part of the overall learning trajectory, but only giving online lessons felt like an entirely different beast.
Because we had the idea that a fair number of people would want to learn a language during the intelligent lockdown, we started training a large group of language trainers who didn’t yet have much experience giving online lessons. And because this was done virtually, getting to know the online learning environment went extra quickly.
No worries concerning the technology used for online lessons
To ensure that all the lessons went well from a technical perspective, each student was offered a technical intake. In it, a Regina Coeli employee went over a range of technical details with the student so that he or she had no worries about his or her system or connection. Many students appreciated this.
Time for personal development
And as predicted, a lot of people were eager to take lessons online! Because people had to work from home and weren’t commuting, and a lot of their social activities had been cancelled, they had time to work on their personal development. Students also stated this as an important reason for taking online lessons—they wanted to start right away and didn’t want to wait until we could reopen.
Introduction to Regina Coeli
Sixty-eight percent of the online students had never attended a training course at Regina Coeli before. The online lessons were their first introduction to our institute and they liked it, as their evaluations show. Students have given the online blended language training an average score of 8.8. The most important reasons for this score have been the virtual face-to-face lessons and the tailor-made nature of the training. And though these are elements for which we’re well-known, it’s great that we’ve been able to achieve it online as well!
Face-to-face training in Vught
More than 70% of the students who took a course online with us would like to follow a language course at Regina Coeli again, either online or at the institute. The latter is now once more possible: since June 7th, our building has been open to students and we’re making the step-by-step transition back to face-to-face lessons. Because of the one-and-a-half-meter rule, we can receive fewer students in our building. That means we’re also continuing to give lessons online for the foreseeable future. Interested getting to know Regina Coeli in an accessible way or experiencing what we’re really known for? Both are possible!
